The 501st main page has reported a new outpost that has just been started up, this time in Turkey:

The latest territory conquered by a 501st presence is the Republic of Turkey. Yigit Cetin (TR-1923) has made it his mission to expose Turkish Star Wars fans to costuming, charity and volunteerism. Click here to visit the official 501st Turkish Outpost site where you can practice your Turkish and learn more about the Legion's growing forces in Eurasia.

This in from the 501st Page - we have a new outpost!

Mississippi Outpost Approved

Stemming from the Midsouth Garrison, the members of Mississippi now have a unit to call their own---the 501st Mississippi Outpost. This new unit in the Deep South of the USA have chosen the TIE Mauler as their icon, a slight nod to the Midsouth Garrison's AT-AT logo. Click here to visit the Mississippi Outpost site and prepare to rock out.

In Memoriam - TD-6117

I just learned that TD-6117, Joe Price, out of the Florida Garrison, just passed away suddenly. The thoughts and prayers of the legion are with him and his family in this sad time.

Rest in peace, trooper.

New Squad!

Just announced on the 501st page - the 70th Explorers have a new sub unit, the Gateway Squad, which will be based out of the St. Louis area and the eastern section of Missouri. The name is taken from the iconic structure in the city.
Squads, for those of you who don't know, are smaller units under a garrison, instituted where there's a small grouping of people who might be somewhat isolated from the rest of the garrison. A squad is formed with a bunch of votes from the Legion council, and once an area receives ten members.
My hope is that someday, we'll have the numbers in Vermont to start our own squad - The Green Mountain Squad has a nice ring to it. Unfortunately, we only have 2 active troopers in the state at the moment. 8 more to go!
